K-Pop Demon Hunters: The MBTI® Types of Every Main Character

Like many parents trying to create some family time, I’ve recently gotten the chance to watch K-Pop Demon Hunters with my kids. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I love Korean media in general, so I was excited to see what this would look like. But the concept also sounded a little…out there. Saving the world from demons through song? I’m more used to Tanjiro and the Hashira saving the world from demons with swords, flames, mist, and wind in Demon Slayer. But Demon Hunters surprised me with its depth, complexity, and rich storytelling! I loved its message of authenticity, honesty, forgiveness, and redemption. It was surprisingly deep for a kids movie, and it sparked a lot of conversations with my kids that perhaps annoyed them (“Mom! Why do you have to turn everything into a lesson!”) but also helped us grow as a family.

Of course, as you know, I can’t watch ANYTHING without trying to profile the characters. So after some thinking and analysis, I’ve come up with my best guesses as to the characters’ personality types. Keep in mind, I can’t actually sit across from Rumi and interview her (surprising, right?). I can only guess based on tidbits of data here and there, so take these typings with a grain of salt. These are fictional characters after all, and fictional characters don’t always replicate humans perfectly.

Rumi: ENFJ

Rumi is an ENFJRumi is an ENFJ

Rumi Kang is the definition of a Protagonist type: magnetic, driven, and carrying the weight of everyone else’s wellbeing on her shoulders. As the leader of HUNTR/X, she’s not just performing choreography and belting out tunes with perfect pitch, she’s the emotional backbone of the group, the one who keeps everyone aligned to the mission and the music.

At her core, Rumi runs on harmony and responsibility. She reads the room instinctively, whether it’s an arena full of fans or the tense silence before a demon battle.

  • She’s fully invested in saving humanity, even if it’s at the expense of her own comfort and well-being.
  • She hides her half-demon nature not just because she fears rejection, but because she doesn’t want to burden her friends with her pain.
  • Even when she’s burning out, her instinct is to reassure others, put on the brave face, and keep everyone moving forward.

This is Fe: a relentless pull to safeguard relationships and inspire others, even at personal cost.

I saw arguments for Rumi being a Te-dom (ENTJ), but over and over again Rumi puts the well-being of humanity over her own desires and needs. She’s a harmony seeker, a unifier, an idealist who wants to connect people. An ENTJ can care about people just as much, but they blend that with a no-nonsense, logic-first approach that doesn’t really care who it offends or bothers in the process.

Ni (Introverted Intuition) – The Golden Vision

Like many ENFJs, Rumi is guided by a singular, long-term vision: the creation of the Golden Honmoon. She clings to this mission as her life’s meaning, believing it will finally free her from her demon heritage.

  • She endures punishing rehearsals despite a strained voice, because the vision matters more than the pain.
  • She interprets her entire identity through this lens of destiny: if she can fulfill it, she’ll be “worthy” and fully human.

This Ni focus makes her both inspiring and, at times, tunnel-visioned, so devoted to her purpose that she forgets to live in the present.

Part of what makes Rumi believable as a superstar is her natural Se flair. She knows how to be in the moment when she needs to: dazzling under stage lights, commanding presence in battle. Her timing, awareness, and ability to respond to what’s happening right now keep her alive in a world where demons don’t wait for long-term plans.

But under stress, she can misuse Se by throwing herself into reckless, self-sacrificial stunts, like confronting danger alone instead of trusting her team.

Ti (Introverted Thinking) – The Lone Problem-Solver

Although it’s her weakest function, Ti shows up in Rumi’s tendency to keep secrets and overthink privately. Instead of asking her team for help, she disappears into self-analysis: If I just figure this out myself, I won’t risk them.
It’s noble, but also isolating. She falls into the ENFJ trap of shouldering the world alone until she nearly breaks.

Why ENFJ Fits Rumi

  • Charismatic Leader: She’s the face of HUNTR/X, equally at home inspiring fans or rallying her team.
  • Self-Sacrificing Protector: Willing to burn herself out to shield others.
  • Vision-Driven: Obsessed with a future destiny that gives meaning to her suffering.
  • Emotional Depth: Warm, compassionate, but haunted by fear of rejection.

Rumi’s ENFJ nature explains why she shines so brightly on stage yet wrestles so fiercely in private. She’s the Protagonist archetype in its most literal sense: a leader whose power is rooted in her ability to inspire, but whose downfall comes when she forgets that she deserves to be loved, even without the mask.

Zoey Jo-i – ENFP, The Campaigner

Zoey is an ENFPZoey is an ENFP

Zoey is the spark that keeps the group from collapsing under all that pressure. As HUNTR/X’s maknae and lead rapper, she’s playful, charming, distractible, and somehow still deadly with a set of enchanted knives.

Zoey’s mind is always darting from one idea to the next.

  • She wonders if maybe the demons could be “nice guys,” because in her world, there’s always another perspective worth considering.
  • She filled her school notebooks with lyrics no one appreciated at the time, but she never stopped dreaming.
  • She’s frequently referred to as distractible, curious, and the one everyone turns to when they need to think outside-the-box.

Her Ne is what makes her magnetic—curious, spontaneous, and brimming with creative possibility. But it also makes her distractible, easily swept away by shiny things (or shiny boys).

Fi (Introverted Feeling) – The Tender Core

Under the playful exterior, Zoey has deep values and fragile insecurities. She often wonders if she’s “too much” or “not enough,” a tension many ENFPs know well.

  • Growing up between cultures, she sometimes feels like she belongs to neither fully.
  • In Golden, she pours her heart into lyrics about being split between worlds and misunderstood.
  • She wants to believe the best about people and see a new perspective, even when they appear to be demons (as in the Saja boys case).

That Fi layer makes Zoey a character with emotional stakes, someone who wants to be loved for her authentic self.

ENFPs aren’t known for rigid structure, but Zoey can act fast when she has to. Knife in hand, she’s surprisingly competent in combat, channeling that ENFP ability to improvise and act when circumstances demand it.

Still, her Te isn’t as developed; it comes out more in scrappy problem-solving than polished plans. That’s part of what makes her lovable: she’s figuring it out as she goes, and we root for her anyway.

Si (Introverted Sensing) – The Ghost of Insecurities

Zoey’s weakest function shows up in her doubts. She remembers all the times people dismissed her energy or called her “weird.” Those echoes of the past sometimes sabotage her confidence.
This is why Gwi-Ma is able to worm into her head—her self-doubt lingers like a bruise she can’t shake.

Why ENFP Fits Zoey

  • Perky and Playful: Quintessential ENFP enthusiasm, always the spark in the room.
  • Easily Distracted: Pulled in by music, fun, and possibilities, even when demons are afoot.
  • Value-Driven: Deeply sensitive to trust, belonging, and authenticity.
  • Lovable Chaos: Equal parts reckless and radiant, she’s the heart that makes HUNTR/X feel like family.

Zoey’s ENFP energy gives K-Pop Demon Hunters its warmth and levity. She’s the friend you want beside you in a fight—not because she’s perfect, but because she’ll make you laugh, remind you why you’re fighting, and throw a knife with perfect timing while she’s at it.

Mira – ISFP, The Challenger-Artist

Mira is an ISFPMira is an ISFP

Mira is the fire you don’t see coming until it’s right in front of you. On stage, she’s HUNTR/X’s lead dancer. In battle, she’s the one who won’t hesitate to cut a demon down. Off-stage? Mira’s sarcasm could slice sharper than her knives.

Most people expect ISFPs to be soft-spoken flower-pickers. Mira proves that stereotype dead wrong. ISFPs can be fierce, especially when paired with an Enneagram 8 edge. ISFPS who are also Enneagram 8s are passionate, reactive, blunt, and they don’t put up with masks or hypocrisy. Mira embodies all of that.

Fi (Introverted Feeling) – The Uncompromising Core

Mira’s decisions always come down to what feels authentic to her. She doesn’t care if her honesty ruffles feathers—she’s going to call things like she sees them.

I’m good at reading people, what are You hiding?” This line by Rumi perfectly exemplifies the ISFP perspective. They are excellent at reading people, thanks to their insight into human motivation as well as their keen awareness of physical and emotional cues.

  • When Rumi’s behavior shifts, Mira immediately notices and refuses to let it slide.
  • She’s not afraid to give ultimatums if she feels her values or her team’s safety are at risk.
  • Her loyalty to Zoey and Rumi isn’t born from duty but from genuine affection. Finally, she’s found people who accept her for who she is.

Fi gives her that mix of bluntness and hidden vulnerability: she’d rather be hated for being real than loved for being fake. Fi always wants to be real, even if it ruffles feathers, upsets the balance, or makes you seem “rebellious.”

As an ISFP, Mira is tuned into the moment. She’s the group’s lead dancer, razor-precise with her movements, and equally sharp in battle.

  • She can throw darts backward over her head and hit her mark.
  • She’s quick to react when demons strike, relying on instincts rather than long-term plans.
  • She also enjoys goofing around with Zoey in lighter moments, showing that playful, spontaneous Se side.

But Se also makes her hot-tempered; her reactions can be impulsive, fiery, and sometimes harsher than she means.

Ni (Introverted Intuition) – The Gut Skepticism

Mira’s constant refrain is, “What are you hiding?” She can’t shake her gut sense that things aren’t adding up with Rumi, and she keeps probing until the truth comes out. While not her dominant strength, her Ni makes her perceptive about undercurrents, always questioning what’s beneath the surface.

Mira’s not about lofty ideals or endless brainstorming—when something needs to be done, she’s direct. Fight now, ask questions later. It’s this practical edge that keeps HUNTR/X on task when Rumi gets tunnel-visioned and Zoey gets distracted by… shiny things.

Why ISFP Fits Mira

  • Authentic: Would rather be alone than fake.
  • Reactive: Quick to act on her emotions and impulses, whether that’s protecting her friends or calling someone out.
  • Compassionate Undercurrent: Under the sarcasm, she cares deeply—her acceptance of Rumi’s secret proves that.

Mira shows us the side of ISFPs that doesn’t get enough spotlight: not the quiet dreamer, but the fiery challenger. She’s living proof that authenticity can be a weapon, and that blunt honesty, when tempered by loyalty, can be the glue that keeps a group together.

Celine – ISTJ, The Guardian

Celine is an ISTJCeline is an ISTJ

“Our faults and fears must never be seen. That’s the only way to protect the Honmoon!”

Celine is the backbone of tradition in K-Pop Demon Hunters. Once the elegant frontwoman of the Sunlight Sisters, she now serves as mentor and mother figure to Rumi, shaping the next generation of hunters. She’s the picture of the ISTJ personality: dependable, principled, and quietly carrying a lifetime of duty.

Si (Introverted Sensing) – The Keeper of Tradition

Celine is steeped in the past. Her whole life revolves around honoring Mi-yeong’s legacy, maintaining hunter traditions, and passing them down without deviation.

  • She is logical and direct, communicating clearly and without a lot of emotional appeals.
  • Her worldview is shaped by decades of learned rules and rituals.
  • Her nostalgia for the discipline of the Sunlight Sisters guides every choice she makes.

Te (Extraverted Thinking) – The Enforcer of Standards

Celine leads by example. She holds herself to the same level of discipline she expects from them.

  • She gives sharp but fair criticism, pushing the trio to reach their full potential.
  • She forms HUNTR/X with an almost managerial mindset: selecting members, setting objectives, and keeping them on course.
  • Her Te keeps the mission on track, but it can also come across as inflexible, leaving little room for messy feelings or gray areas.

Fi (Introverted Feeling) – The Hidden Loyalty

Though she projects discipline, Celine deeply cares for Rumi. Adopting her after Mi-yeong’s death wasn’t just an obligation, it was a personal vow of love and loyalty.

  • Her refusal to acknowledge Rumi’s demon side comes from fear, not malice: fear that Rumi will be rejected, harmed, or hated by the world.
  • Even in her rigid rules, she’s trying to protect. It’s misguided, but deeply personal.

ISTJs often struggle with flexibility, and Celine is no exception. Her worldview is built on certainty: demons are evil, hunters are righteous, tradition will save us. When Rumi begins challenging those binaries, Celine falters. New ideas threaten the stability she’s built her life around, and it takes time (and her love for Rumi) to crack that rigidity.

Why ISTJ Fits Celine

  • Traditionalist Mentor: Raises the new generation in the image of the old.
  • Disciplined & Dependable: Leads with structure, consistency, and duty.
  • Protective but Rigid: Her love for Rumi is real, but filtered through a strict belief system.
  • Guardian Archetype: She sees it as her role to shield others from chaos, even if it means suppressing uncomfortable truths.

Celine’s ISTJ nature makes her both a stabilizing force and a cautionary tale: the guardian who gives her life to duty, but risks suffocating the very people she loves if she can’t bend.

Bobby – ESFJ, The Caretaker

Bobby is an ESFJBobby is an ESFJ

Bobby is the steady orbit keeping the team grounded. As their manager, he’s juggling schedules, fan events, snacks, and meltdowns, all with the kind of cheer that makes him part of the family rather than just staff. He’s slightly bumbling, yes, but also the logistical backbone of the group.

Bobby radiates warmth, friendliness, and caretaking. His instinct is always to encourage, never to tear down.

  • When the girls fight, he brings snacks to cheer them up.
  • When tensions flare, he uses humor or reassurance instead of scolding.
  • He treats the members with familiarity and affection, celebrating their wins and worrying over their struggles.

Fe makes him the ultimate “team dad” figure—his happiness comes from keeping harmony alive.

Si (Introverted Sensing) – The Steady Routine

As an ESFJ, Bobby creates and needs structure. He’s the one keeping track of schedules, booking backup dancers, and making sure water bottles are ready after shows.

  • He respects tradition—like caring about the Idol Awards and fan expectations—because consistency and order are what ground him.
  • His routines give stability to a group whose lives are otherwise chaos (demons, betrayals, supernatural threats…).

Bobby isn’t just by-the-book. His playful side shows up in goofy bursts of enthusiasm: dancing along with Zoey, wearing silly costumes, or hyping fan-made ship art. He’s willing to lean into the absurd, which makes him approachable and beloved, not just a “manager in a suit.”

Ti (Introverted Thinking) – The Blind Spot

Bobby isn’t great at cold analysis or strategy. When chaos hits, his instinct isn’t to create a master plan but to keep everyone calm and carry on. This sometimes makes him seem a little clueless about the supernatural stakes, but it’s also part of his charm; his role isn’t to dissect, but to support.

Why ESFJ Fits Bobby

  • Cheerful Caretaker: Always prioritizes the group’s needs and happiness.
  • Dependable & Routine-Oriented: Keeps order behind the scenes.
  • Expressive & Approachable: Uses humor and warmth to ease tension.

Bobby shows us the best of ESFJ energy: the caretaker who keeps the family functioning, the glue that holds everything together.

Jinu Saja – ENTP, The Trickster-Visionary

Jinu Saja is an ENTPJinu Saja is an ENTP

As leader of the Saja Boys, Jinu masks centuries of regret with a charismatic grin and a bag full of tricks. He’s constantly wrestling with the gap between who he is and who he pretends to be.

Jinu thrives on possibilities. He never meets a situation he can’t twist into a new angle or a new scheme.

  • He turns a confrontation with HUNTR/X into a variety show-style game, just for the thrill of it.
  • He deflects suspicion with charm and humor, never letting anyone pin him down.
  • Even in combat, he’s unpredictable, summoning water demons one moment, teasing his opponents the next.

Ne makes him adaptive, magnetic, and maddeningly hard to get a read on. He’s always one step sideways from what you expect.

Ti (Introverted Thinking) – The Rationalizer

Beneath the antics, Jinu justifies everything to himself. Accepting Gwi-Ma’s deal? Logical at the time; he needed a way out of poverty. Serving Gwi-Ma centuries later? Makes sense if it leads to erasing his guilt.

  • His Ti shows in how he trims details when retelling his past to Rumi, leaving out the parts that would make him look weak or selfish.
  • He dissects situations and presents only what supports his narrative, using logic as a smokescreen.

Fe (Extraverted Feeling) – The Charmer (and Manipulator)

Jinu’s charisma is undeniable. He knows how to play to a crowd, to Rumi, even to strangers. But Fe for him is a tool, sometimes genuine, sometimes manipulative.

  • He flirts with Rumi, using empathy to strike at her insecurities about her demon heritage.
  • He charms fans and elders alike, even if it leaves him flustered in awkward human moments (like being mistaken for Rumi’s boyfriend).
  • Yet, when it counts, he shows flashes of real humanity; spared Rumi when he could have attacked, treated gifts with care, and softened at a child’s drawing.

Fe is both his greatest mask and his last tether to being human.

Si (Introverted Sensing) – The Curse of Memory

ENTPs aren’t naturally past-oriented, but Jinu’s entire arc is haunted by memory. His pact with Gwi-Ma, his family’s abandonment, the shame of betrayal—all of it burns in the background. He longs for those memories to be erased because they’re the one thing he can’t charm or trick his way out of. His demon markings are scars of his past, written across his body.

Why ENTP Fits Jinu

  • Clever Trickster: Turns battles into games, bends rules to his whim.
  • Charming Yet Unreliable: Draws people in but rarely shows his full hand.
  • Haunted Visionary: Seeks reinvention, desperate to escape the weight of the past.
  • Dual Nature: The entertainer who hides a tragic flaw beneath the jokes.
